If you are interested as I am in astronomy, you may enjoy some pictures I took on April 16 and March 24, 1996 of Comet Hyakutake. The pictures were taken with 28, 50, and 200mm lenses. The camara was mounted on a little (10cm reflector) telescope for guidance. The location was on the french Jura near Geneva at about 1200m altitude.
The pictures were printed at a 1hour express photo outfit. Of course the background turned out to be horrible. After scanning I used PHOTOSHOP on a Mac to create a black flat field and to improve contrast.
Overview using a wide angle 28 mm lens 10 minutes exposure time on Fuji 400 ASA film. The relative position of the comet to the big dipper is nicely seen. With naked eye, the tail of the comet was as long as the dipper including handle. As an insert I show also a close-up taken with a 200mm lens.
50mm lens f/1.4 under similar conditions.
